Texas Digital Hunting License, Offline and in One Wallet
Texas accepts digital display through the TX Hunt & Fish app. Hunter Passport carries that credential offline alongside every other state you hunt, so one tap pulls up your license whether you're in the Hill Country or the Trans-Pecos.
Digital License Acceptance in Texas
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officially accepts digital hunting license display via the TX Hunt & Fish app, and game wardens across the state are trained on it. TPWD still recommends a paper backup for deep ranch country and the west Texas desert, where cell coverage disappears for miles. Digital is the norm; paper is the belt to the suspenders.

The Official App: TX Hunt & Fish
An honest read on the state's own app — and where a multi-state wallet fits alongside it.
What it does well
TX Hunt & Fish is one of the better state-built systems in the country. It stores licenses for offline display, includes harvest reporting for deer and turkey, and wardens accept it without the side-eye some apps still get. The pain points: occasional re-login loops after updates, and older phones chew through battery running the app with location on.
Where Hunter Passport fits
If Texas is your only state, the official app is enough. If you also draw a Colorado elk tag or run a New Mexico antelope hunt, Hunter Passport puts all three credentials in one offline wallet with the same tap-to-display speed.
Hunting Texas: Why a Wallet Matters Here
Texas hunting is a private-land game. Over 95% of the state is in private hands, which means most hunters are running leases, outfitters, or MLDP properties, and most warden encounters happen on county roads or at check stations, not deep public land. That changes the calculus on digital licenses: you're less likely to be out of signal than a Colorado elk hunter, but you're more likely to be on someone else's land where a quick, clean credential display matters for landowner relations too. The TPWD license year runs September 1 through August 31, and the Super Combo at $68 bundles hunting, fishing, upland stamp, freshwater stamp, and saltwater stamp into one license with a small stack of endorsements you'll actually need to show. That's the other thing TX Hunt & Fish does well and where Hunter Passport adds value: the Super Combo plus HIP, federal duck stamp, and any WMA permits can be a lot of pieces to produce in a parking-lot dove field at 6:30 AM. One tap, one display, every endorsement visible — that's the job. And if you're chasing dove in September, whitetail in November, and redfish in May, the 365-day season reality of Texas means a wallet that keeps all of it straight without a re-login every time.

Texas Digital License FAQ
Does TX Hunt & Fish work offline in South Texas brush country?
Once you've opened the app and downloaded your licenses while on signal, yes. The license screen displays without a connection. The failure mode most hunters hit is an app update that silently clears the cache — always re-open it once on Wi-Fi the morning of a hunt.
Is my Texas digital hunting license legal to show a game warden?
Yes. TPWD accepts digital display through TX Hunt & Fish, and state wardens routinely verify licenses this way. They'll cross-check your license number against their own system regardless of what you display, so a readable name, license number, and dates is all they need to see.
Can Hunter Passport handle my Texas Super Combo with all the stamps?
Yes. The app stores the Super Combo as one license plus the associated stamps (upland, saltwater, freshwater trout) and any endorsements (HIP, federal duck). You see them together on one screen instead of digging through six tabs.
What about WMA Annual Public Hunting permits and MLDP tags?
The $48 APH permit and MLDP tags are stored as separate credentials in the wallet. In Quick Display mode they appear alongside your main license so a warden at a WMA check station sees the permit immediately.
Does the wallet replace TX Hunt & Fish for buying licenses?
No. You still buy from TPWD directly through the official purchase portal or the TX Hunt & Fish app. Hunter Passport is the wallet that carries the credential afterward — it doesn't sell licenses.
Hunt More Than One State?
Many Texas hunters also run seasons in neighboring states. Hunter Passport puts every credential in one wallet.
